After the Ferguson protests in 2014, a SF Bay Area group, Asians 4 Black Lives, formed to support Black Lives Matter activists in battle against white supremacy. Sept 2017: VERGE17 Emerging Leaders. Mok was selected as one of the ten diversity scholarship awardees to young sustainability professionals to attend GreenBiz's VERGE17 Conference in Santa Clara. They met with Van Jones and leading sustainability business executives during the conference.  

 

Aug 2017: Public Square: What Does Equity Look Like? Why Citizenship? Fellows with Yerba Buena Center of the Arts showcase the results of a year-long rumination over these pivotal questions with the Public Square. 

 

May 2017: Street Art Installation in City of San Leandro. Hoi-Fei Mok's art on bee dieoff, climate change, and food systems got installed on a utility box on the corner of Dutton/Macarthur in San Leandro, CA.

June 2015: People of Coloring hosted Awakened Ancestors // Borrowed Futures for the United States Asian American Festival 2015. The event featured a pop-up exhibition of work by lead artists Amman Desai, Nicole Gervacio, Vincent Kukua, and Hoi-Fei Mok.

 

May 2015: The City of San Leandro hosted its first SolarWeek in May 2015 to explore renewable energy and the potential for San Leandro. Hoi-Fei Mok won 2nd place with a portable water filtration design at San Leandro Solar Week 2015's thin-film solar product design challenge with Sfuncube. 

 

Mar 2014: Society of Risk Analysis: Stricter Controls of Wastewater Reuse on Crops Needed to Meet WHO Guidelines, Study Says. Food systems researchers Hoi-Fei Mok and Andrew J. Hamilton of The University of Melbourne in Australia created a statistical model to characterize the health risks posed by wastewater used to grow Asian vegetables.
